

William was born October 27,1940 in Brenham,Texas to Rudolph and Erma (Buck) Gaskamp. William was a butcher for Marstellar Grocery, Piggly Wiggly, HEB, Kelly's BBQ, and Fitzpatrick and Sons Meatmarket. He also worked for Cefco where he was known as "POPS". His hobbies included camping, fishing, sports, especially RACING.
William is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sally Ann Gaskamp of Waco. His daughter, Kim Gaskamp and his son David Gaskamp of Waco. Step-daughter Shawndra Rutledge and spouse Gary. Step-son Shane Clay and spouse Amy. Sisters Rosalie Hutrya, Bernell Bezanson, Louise Glasemann and brother Rudy Gaskamp Jr. His grandchildren Tami Moore, Crystal Moore, Preston Gaskamp, Thomas Clay, Mia Clay, Lacey Clay, and Harlee Rutledge, and 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
William is preceded in death by his parents, and step-son Shad Clay.
A visitation for William will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors, 4400 W Waco Dr, Waco, Texas 76710. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers include Preston Gaskamp, Blake Glasemann, Dean Fitzpatrick, Frank Butler, Jr., Dean Hooper and Shane Clay. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Rutledge.
