Joseph Justo D. Tolentino

Joseph “Justo” D. Tolentino, 94 of Pukalani passed away at his home on Nov. 29, 2023 surrounded by his beloved wife, Ninfa and family members & under the care of Hospice Maui. Mr. Tolentino was born on December 15, 1928 in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was the son of Flaviano & Antonia Tolentino. He studied at San Nicolas Elementary & High School and attended FEATI University in the Philippines. He worked as a CNA at Maui Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Oahu for over 26 years. After retiring in 1992, he & his wife traveled to the Philippines, California, Canada, the East & the West Coast, and Las Vegas. He enjoyed reading related health books, daily newspapers and loved watching his favorite games & TV Shows. He also would spend hours working in the yard and watering his small flower garden. Though he had hearing problems he still had a voice till the very last few days of his life. He was a very loving & caring husband.

He is survived by his beloved wife and also leaves behind to cherish his memory of four children from previous marriage. Joseph (JoAnn) Tolentino, Agnes (Todd) Nolan, Merlin Tolentino† (Romeo Guillermo†), Irene (Ferdinand †) Gascon. His 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

1 Day Funeral Service to take place on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at St. Joseph Church in Makawao, Maui. Public Visitation at 8:00 A.M. Mass Service at 9:00 A.M.-9:45 A.M. Burial to follow at 10:30 A.M. at Maui Memorial Park: Garden of Meditation in Wailuku, Maui.

We love and miss you papa until we meet again. We are very grateful and thankful to Hospice Maui staff, Dr. Chad Farmer, nurse Janell, Barbara, Trevor, Rachel, Lynette and Ikit Lita for their support and kokua. A special thank you also to Island Hospice who was under their care for over 8 months at the Hale. Special thanks to Benita for her compassion and dedication in caring for Joseph till the very end.
