

She was born on March 12, 1932, in the Philippines to the late Isidro Javellana and Praxades Domenden Javellana. Jovita lived a long and meaningful life rooted in love, faith, and family. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, whom she cherished deeply.
Throughout her life on Maui, Jovita was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed at Longhi’s Restaurant from 1983 to 2007, Lahaina Broiler Restaurant from 1985 to 1990, and Nanatome Restaurant from 1990 to 1995. She took great pride in her work and was known for her strong work ethic and commitment.
Jovita is survived by her loving children: Bartolome (Consuelo) Jacinto, Maria “Lita” (Eddie) Matubis, Magdalena “Vilma” (Juto) Tomaquin, Lilia (Robert) Bedard, Melchor (Virgie) Jacinto, and Mel (Rick) Bandy. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Natividad Jacinto.
She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Bernard (Marichu) Jacinto, Jun-jun Jacinto, Cathy (Brando) Foronda, Edwin Jacinto, Lalaine Avila, Jessa Jacinto, Mark John Jacinto, Melanie Jacinto, Lyndel Jacinto, Leane Bedard, Lauren Bedard, Melanie Mahal Jacinto, Melody Jacinto, Jenny (Junior) Tabladillo, Mel “MJ” Jacinto, Briana Bandy, and Mekayla Bandy. She was preceded in death by her grandsons Ronald Jacinto and Eric Jacinto.
Jovita was also blessed with 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
She is survived by her siblings, Consolacion Ortiz and Irinea Lozano.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Jovita’s life at Maria Lanakila Church in Lahaina. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, with public visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. Services will continue Friday, January 30, 2026, with public visitation at 9:00 a.m., Mass at 10:00 a.m., lunch at Norman’s Mortuary at 12:00 p.m., and burial at Maui Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m.

Jovita Javellana Jacinto will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family, her gentle spirit, her strong work ethic, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
