

Kevin McPhee Hurst passed away on February 5, 2024, in Kihei, Hawaii at the age of 64. He was born to Thomas Gene and Archileen Jane (McPhee) Hurst on January 13, 1960, in San Raphel, California. The family moved to southern California and Dana Point early on and this is where Kevin grew up.
Kevin loved the ocean and was a surfer his whole life. He moved to Maui in 1983 and spent some time traveling in southeast Asia. He was a long-time employee of the fine dining restaurant Raffles at the Renaissance Hotel in Wailea and worked at many other Maui resorts. He was a skilled house painter. He loved watching sports, especially the Angels and the Cowboys. He found a contented life in recovery and helped many people with their struggles. Kevin studied Martial arts for much of his life and became a Tai Chi instructor. For many years he taught Tai Chi at Kam 3 for free.
He is survived by his sister Julienne Hust and his brother Colin Hurst; his nephew TJ Hurst and wife Vanessa; and his niece Krysten Orian and husband Noah. He also leaves behind his 5 great nephews and nieces: Kadence, Aria, Tommy, Toby, and Luca; and his longtime family friend Mark Cohen. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Tom, and his brother Jesse.
There will be a celebration of Kevin’s life at Kama’ole 3 beach park on Saturday March 23, 2024, at 9:00am at the south end of the park.
