Randy Ray Patao passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at Kula Hospital at the age of 67. He was born on February 2, 1958, in Wailuku, Maui Hawaii to Henry and Yolanda Patao.
A 1977 graduate of Maui High School, Randy made his mark early on as a talented athlete. From the 10th grade, he played varsity football, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike. He also excelled on the track, competing in both the low and high hurdles with drive and determination.
Randy was the eldest of five children. He was predeceased by his father, Henry E. Patao, his sisters, Lynette Hill (Calvin) and Tracy Feliciano (Duane). He is survived by his beloved son, Grandy Arlington Patao; his mother, Yolanda Patao; his brothers, Roger Patao (Susan) and Henry Patao “Puppet” (Tammy); and numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Randy also worked as the head custodian for Patao’s Safety Check for more than 20 years.
Outside of work, Randy found joy in the simple pleasures of island life. He loved riding his bike through the roads of Maui, soaking in the natural beauty around him and savoring the peace it brought.
Randy will be dearly missed and forever be in our hearts. Ahui Hou!!
A celebration of life will be held to honor Randy’s life on Friday, June 27, 2025, at King’s Cathedral in Kahului, Maui, Hawaii. Public visitation over ashes starts at 8:30am, service at 10am then reception to follow. A private burial will take place at Maui Memorial Park on a later date.
The Family wishes to thank the entire staff at Kula Hospital. Special Thanks to Dr. Scott, the nurses and staff on the 4th floor, activities who kept him well shaved and giving him a haircut when needed, and thank you to Colleen, a hospice nurse. We are forever thankful for your compassionate caring hearts.
