Boy grew up in Kailua, Maui, a small town past twin falls. He spent his childhood helping his grandfather and father moving and managing cattle in the family pastures in East Maui. Boy attended high school at Lahainaluna as a boarder and always had fond memories about his time there. After high school Boy landed a job at Maui Electric, where he worked for 33 years and 1 day, starting as a lineman and working his way to primary troubleman. He ended his career overseeing the entire East Maui, deftly taking command of entire bucket crews during storms to restore power to Hana, Nahiku, Wailua, and Keanae. He could not drive through Hana Highway without being flagged down to be handed fresh poi, fish, watercress, kalua pig, etc. through the window from grateful residents to say thanks. He freely lent his time to light up many family events with his electrical expertise.
Boy was an avid hunter and ulua fisherman. He would many times play the “Portuguese Tour Guide” hosting Doctors to News Broadcasters. They would contact him offering him thousands for guided hunts. He would just request a case of beer and they always left with more than they expected. He loved being on the ranch and spent most of his retirement days in the pasture.
Boy is survived by his wife Cora, his son Jeremy (Farron), his grandchildren Risa and Eva; as well as his mom Emilia and sisters: Stephanie Cabral Belloso (the late Luis), Margaret “Koko” Cabral, Mary Jo Cabral, Shirley Ann Cabral Hoopai (Ipo), Anna Marie “Lokelani” Cabral, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Our ohana would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Maui Memorial Hospital, the caring staff at Islands Hospice and all the precious family and friends who brought gifts, food, love, and aloha to Boy in his final days.
Friends are invited to Boy’s memorial service to be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku. Visitation begins at 9:00am, service 10:00am, with lunch to follow in the reception hall at the rear of the chapel.
