Susan Milligan

Susan Milligan, 67, of Kihei, Maui, passed away on August 7, 2018 after a yearlong illness. She was under the care of Bayada Home Care, Care Resources and Maui Hospice. She was predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Helen Mangold and her husband of many years Bernie Milligan. She is survived by her Fiance, Robert Lopes, brother Michael Mangold, sister Sally Plattner and brother David Mangold. She was a graduate of Roanoke-Benson High School in 1968 and four years later earned a bachelor’s degree with an Education major from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

Susan spent most of her career successfully with State Farm Insurance in various Information Technology and administrative management roles. She was notably the first woman promoted to data processing group management in State Farm history. She spent a number of years in Bloomington, Illinois, Maryland and later California for many years until her retirement. In 2006 she and her husband Bernie moved to Maui. Susan met Robert Lopes several years after the passing of her husband and thereafter the couple enjoyed travel and especially taking in the sights and culture of the Hawaiian Islands.

She will be dearly missed. Memorial services will be held in late September, to be announced, in Kihei, Maui and later in the fall in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where her siblings and she often spent many reunions together.
