Catherine Ann Roche passed away on Monday, September 13th, 2021, surrounded by her husband and children. Cathy was born on January 14th, 1952 in New York City. She was raised in Troy, New York by her loving parents Wilma and Mario Rizzi. She met her husband, Dave Roche, in high school, proving young love can and does last a lifetime. Throughout their life, Dave and Cathy partook in many adventures, including ski a trip to Austria, vacations in Ireland, Spain, and Hawaii, and crossing the Gibraltar Straits to Morroco. On November 4th, 1976, they welcomed their first offspring into the world, Michael Jeremy Roche. Mike was a ball of energy as a young child and Dave and Cathy routinely chased him from room to room around their house. Two years later, on November 25th, 1978, Cathy, Dave, and Mike welcomed another addition to their family, Jennifer Michelle Roche. As a child, and the youngest in the family, Jennifer was doted on routinely. Shortly after Jennifer's birth, Cathy and Dave moved the family to California, Maryland, where they built a home together and lived for 40 years. Cathy was as sharp as they come. She quickly became known as the go-to physical therapist in St. Mary's and Calvert Counties. She made an uncountable number of friends - doctors, nurses, and even patients have all become part of her extended family. As time passed, children brought her grandchildren - DJ, Madysen, Samantha, Cayla, and Mackenzie. Her love for her children was fierce - and doubly so for her grandchildren! Summer vacations were often spent in the family cabin on Lake George, New York, surrounded by her brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved to play any kind of table games - board games, card games, dominoes, marbles, etc. She guided her children and grandchildren through the years, encouraging them to find the positives in life. She will be remembered for her stimulating conversations, infectious smile, and her positivity towards life. Rest in peace Cathy; you will be missed for as long as life exists on earth.
Services for Cathy will be held at her daughter's home in Hollywood, MD on Saturday, Oct 9, from 2pm until dark. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of St. Mary's (https://www.hospiceofstmarys.org/ways-to-give/) and A Community That Shares (ACTS) of Southern Maryland (http://www.acts-smc.org/building-fund-drive).
