

A native of Lake Wales, FL, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Walter Martin, Sr. and Mary Evella Martin.
Doris grew up in Lake Wales, FL and graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1944, during World War II. Her first job was with the War Price and Ration Board, rationing food and supplies during the war. After marrying her husband Roy, the love of her life, in 1945 the couple eventually settled in Maryland. There she got a job with the CIA, spending most of her career under deep-cover on the covert side of the Agency. Over her 40+ year career there she received a Certificate of Merit for exceptional performance, a Certificate for Special Achievement, a Certificate of Appreciation and an Exceptional Performance Award.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Ernest Roy Welch, Jr., her brothers Clarence Walter Martin, Jr., Nolan Lavelle Martin, Gayln Earl Martin, Melvin Merrill Martin and sisters Alice Antoinette Martin, Marguerite Lucille Martin, Ramona Evella Martin Chastain.
Doris is survived by her son Patrick Welch and wife Patricia; son Walter Welch; daughter Kathleen McElrath and husband Calvin; daughter Marylin Robinson and husband William; daughter Suzanne Rhodes; Grandchildren William Welch and wife Frances; Christina Welch; Jason Welch and wife Julie; Ryan Welch; Lindsay Tereba and husband Pete; Sean Tereba and wife Tiffany; Chelsea Robinson and husband Kris; Jevon Robinson and wife Jennifer; Paul Rhodes; Matthew Rhodes; Great-grandchildren Sayde Welch, Lacey Welch, Lilly Tereba, Evangeline Tereba, Evelyn Welch, Milo Welch, Cadence Simonian, Lincoln Simonian, Roy Robinson and Kingsley Robinson; and sister Laveda Gaynelle Martin Rogers and husband Chuck.
Doris became a member of the Nazarene Church in Lake Wales, FL as a teenager. She remained active in Nazarene churches in Florida and Maryland for the rest of her life, playing the piano for church service until well into her 70s. So it is fitting that a celebration of her life will take place at the Lifestream Church of the Nazarene in Waldorf, MD where she was a founding member. The services will be on Saturday April 29th.
