

Gilbert Lackey Bond, beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2022, at the age of 87. He leaves behind an adoring family that will miss his kind nature and wonderful sense of humor.
Gilbert was born on October 28, 1934, in Montour Falls, New York, and was the third of six children born to the late Kenneth Bond, Sr. and Viola Bond (Lackey).
After graduating high school, Gil joined the United States Airforce where he served his country for four years. He then attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with a BS in Physical Education. He taught physical education in Prince Georges County Public School system until his retirement in 1994.
In addition to his time in the public school system, Gil volunteered in the community and coached football, baseball, softball, wrestling, and track for both high school and boys & girls club teams.
Following his retirement, Gil and Dell enjoyed spending time together and visiting with family. They divided their time between Watkins Glen, New York, Russell, Pennsylvania and White Plains, Maryland.
Gil is survived by his devoted wife, Dell Bond; children Victoria Bond, Beth Stafford (Shawn), Bobby Trimarchi (Becky) and Ellen Velleri (Carl); sisters Jeannette Bond Brant (Allen) and Sylvia Bond Capach; grandchildren, Shalyne, Matthew, Shawn, Shaina, Christopher, Lauren, Tanner, Boryana and Stoyan; four great-grandchildren, Suniah, Syren, Kairi and Melina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Bond, Jr., George Bond, and Richard Bond.
A memorial service will be held on February 5, 2022, at 11 am at the Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf Maryland.
