Dan is survived by his loving children, Erica (Kenny) Fisher and Patrick (Jordan) Fisher, his 5 grandchildren: Dylan, Wyatt, James, Riley and Baby Fisher due in July. He was predeceased by his parents, Ron and Margaret Fisher, his grandmother, Edna Mae Dodd, and his aunts Dolores Johnson, Betty Swann and Carla Hardesty.
He was known as Dan, Dad, Grandaddy, Faja and Fish. Dan had a sense of humor that has left many wonderful memories and smiles in our hearts as we remember his antics, jokes and skits that had the whole room laughing. He loved music – all types of music and was known for the mix tapes he would put together for his family and friends. He spent hours listening to Jackson Browne, JD Souther, Hot Rize, Restless Heart, Mannheim Steamrollers, Steppenwolf, Tracy Chapman and many others.
Dan had a successful career in sales in two different industries – Fine Paper at Stanford Paper later known as International Paper and as an auto salesperson for different dealerships (Waldorf Ford, Indian Head Ford, Lexington Park Ford) throughout Southern Maryland. His ability to communicate, gain trust and follow up after the sale were several reasons for his success. He regularly read self-improvement books to be a better salesperson, employee, father, son, husband and friend.
Dan’s purpose in life was to provide for and be able to help his family. He was a devoted son, father and grandfather. He spent many hours driving between Maryland and Virginia to be available for his family. As his parents aged and needed his help, he was there for them. When his children were young, he could be relied upon to be there for them. He went to school activities, dance events, scouting events and regular visits to have quality time with his children that he loved deeply. When grandchildren came into the picture, he was also there for them and loved to get down and play with their cars, trucks, dinosaurs and other toys.
Dan's presence will be sorely missed, especially his sense of humor, knowledge of trivia, conversational skills and those caring check-up calls. We have lost a remarkable man, loving Father, Grandaddy, Son and a kind trustworthy soul.
