She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Irving and Nellie Stone. She was very proud, and spoke often, of her first job with the Gulf Oil Company, in downtown Baltimore.
She married Bruce R. Kane in 1957 and they moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1963. In 1969 the family relocated to the Winter Park, Florida area, and eventually to Casselberry, Florida. While in Central Florida she worked for, and retired from Ivey's Department Store as a store executive, where she managed the cash office. She was known by many of her friends, as well friends of her children, as "the lady with the white gloves and hat." She loved the simple things in life...the beach, watching baseball on TV (especially the Atlanta Braves), and she especially loved her little friend, Sadie, a 4-month old Pekachi puppy her daughter rescued from a local no-kill animal shelter.
Mrs. Kane moved to Brandywine, Maryland in 2010 with her husband, and lived with her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Erin Kane Monfort and husband Jim of Brandywine, Maryland; her son, Bruce Russell "Rusty" Kane II and his wife Robin, of Green Cove Springs, Florida; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her cousin, Bernice Warner of Bel Air, Maryland; and longtime family friend, Ola Coffee, of Orlando, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, and sister, Geraldine S. Bassett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Charles County, Attn: Memorial Donations, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20603 or to your local ASPCA or no-kill animal shelter.
