Ruth introduced me to Morgan horses  30 years ago at her farm. Although she could never persuade me to give up my Arabs, and never tried, we had so much fun showing them together at Bright Leaf Farm, PGEC, and then on to the "big" shows- Capital Classic, Delmarva Classic and Mason-Dixon Classic. 

When I got married, Ruth crocheted a beautiful afghan for our wedding present, which I cherish to this day and refuse to let the cats sleep on. When I finally got my own farm, Ruth made a foaling kit for me and talked me through that first birth.  Then when my old stallion Skippy died, she wrote a beautiful letter of condolence to help heal my broken heart. 

I'm glad I had the last few months to sit and reminisce with Ruth about all those fun and crazy times and the memories we shared. She always had a story to tell and those stories will live in my heart forever. I love you, Ruthie- you've earned your rest.

Through good times and bad, till death do us part.  You will be missed Ruth, you will be missed.  So many memories.  

There were trips to Florida for convention and trips to Vermont.  There were laughs and giggles at John Lyons Clinic and Horse World Expo.  Trips to Lancaster for who knows what we didn't need but we had to go.  We shared our love of horses and cats and chocolate spiders.  Pound cake and dark chocolate Hershey bars also made the top of the list.  Clearing tack off the dining room table so we could have Thanksgiving dinner. 
 
There were always countless crocheted afghans laying around in this corner and that…each one being made for a special purpose whether it was a baby or wedding or someone just liked the colors.  You shared your skill with so many and finally had to meet at Bob Evans to accommodate the requests for your knowledge. 

You gave my girls the chance to learn what it was to ride horses, like we both did when we were younger.  You allowed them to show your horses …Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Virginia in shows, demonstrations and parades.  

This cold morning today reminded me of the day we hauled horses into Washington DC for the Denver mounted police to use for the inaugural parade and don't forget the countless years we hauled in those cold January temps to Maryland Horse Expo.

You and Lee introduced me and my family to numerous people that I still call friends today.  Tom and Deborah, Rita and Leitha, Lana and Pat, Barbara and Byrdie, Tina and Debbie, Jeannie and Kathy and Cass, Gordon and Tish, Robin and Deb and the list goes on.  Then there are the Morgan Mischief's…oh my have they all grown!  Those girls have all grown to wonderful young ladies many of them having their own farms and horses…not just horses…MORGAN HORSES!

Speeches also come to mind, especially my favorite…”My friend, Pearl”.  Not sure which came first the book or the speech but both were keepsakes!!  Together we were able to catch a few horsey births and unfortunately a few horsey deaths. My thoughts could go on and on forever about all the experiences we have shared.

So many memories that will forever be treasured.  And now, my friend…till death do us part…..you will be missed!!  Love you…..

I only had the opportunity to meet and know Ruth over the last few years.  Ruth had a truly unique disposition and a personality to match.  She was such a loving and caring person and I believe that if it were possible, she would have helped anyone that she could.  She didn't mind saying exactly what was on her mind, but at the same time had a deep caring for ones that were in need.  I will miss her and will always remember our time spent together.

So many memories of an amazing time in my life, spurred on by a most generous woman named Ruth.  Ruth had the ability to make the mundane, magical. With her endless wit, warmth and wisdom, she brought sparkle, life and humor to any circumstance.  Her love for animals and children (of all ages)was evident in the way she lived her life and the way she invited in all who cared to share it. She had an uncanny way of pulling you in to her hilarious stories with a knowing twinkle in her eye. She introduced so many of us to the power of horses, and shared her passion with us, while giving us some of the most precious gifts of all in the horse world - experience and friendship. We all will carry on a little bit of Ruthie in us by the memories we share.

Ruthie was the first person to ever put me on a horse.  She instilled her love for the Morgan breed in me and 19 years later, I am still riding Morgans.  I have many fond memories from Ruth and Lee's farm.  She was very kind to us kids and offered opportunities to those who otherwise never would have had (including myself). She was a loving person with a sense of humor that could not be beat. She will be missed.

I have known Ruth for over 40 years, working with her in Prince George's Schools. Her heart too large to describe, her last card to me reporting how happy she was made me smile. I wish we had been in touch these last few years. Having had surgery this week, not certain if I will make her service. My thoughts and prayers to her family however.

Where do I even begin Ruthie has been in my life over 50 yrs.  She was loving strong willed an would give u the shirt off her back. The animals were her children all of them. She taught the very young an the old all aspects of the horses. My daughter Katie learned to ride ther along with Angie Lesange  I took all my kids there so she could show them not to be afraid of life. She taught knitting later on in her life. She gave me a safe place to talk to cry to find my way. She kept Lee busy with all her list of honey do  an he would say yes dear I finished that.  I love them soo much  and she will be very missed.

Ruthie, I loved you with every fiber of my being. You always treated me like I was your own daughter. You always brought me down to earth when I started to get snipity, and so gently too. I miss you so much. Thank you for everything you ever did for me.

I don't know where to begin or how to express the joy of knowing both Ruth and Lee.  There were many hours of laughter and some tears along the way as she introduced me to my first morgan and for years following showed together.  The many nights we would sit up watching for that foal to be born....I am filled with so many wonderful memories but the bottom line is that Ruthie was a grand lady and always gave of herself to make things happen for others...she had a beautfiul soul and loving heart.......you will be missed greatly but your wonderful spirit will live on with all those you have touched. Ruthie was a very special lady,gave me the gift of lasting friendship and Morgan horses. Made me laugh cry an believe.

I have a lot of memories that include Ruth, Lee, the horses and barn from my childhood that will never be forgotten. She gave me the love I have for horses, especially Morgans. She will live on in every one she influenced. RIP. Gone, but never forgotten.
