Gregoria Alcantar

She was raised and lived in Mexico most of her life. Gregoria met Vicente Terrazas and they were married in 1961 in Ramos, Durango. She moved to the Yakima area in 1996 after her husband Vicente passed away, to be closer to her family.

Gregoria enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching Novelas. She would spend time with her family but especially her favorite grandson Jesus Acosta, She also enjoyed telling stories about la Menoreña. Gregoria was a devout Catholic and had a strong religious faith for la Virgin de Guadalupe and el Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

Gregoria is survived by daughters, Maria Concepcion (Eduardo) Acosta of Wapato Maria Josefina Lopez of Mexico and Gloria (Salvador) Terrazas of Sylmar, CA; step-sons, Anselmo, Natividad, Lazaro, Alejandro, Juan, Martin, and Sergio Terrazas; brother, Valente Rodriguez of Napa, CA; sisters, Maria Mercedes Alvarez of El Paso, TX and Maria Juanita Maynez of Auburn, CA also 83 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vicente Terrazas; Mother and Father; granddaughter, Diana Marina Acosta, grandsons, Jose and Alberto Terrazas and stepsons, Francisco and Salvador Tarrazas;

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00, Monday and 3:00 to 5:00, Tuesday at Merritt Funeral Home, with a Rosary on Tuesday, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00, October 26, 2011 at St Peter Claver Catholic church, Wapato. Burial will follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park.
