Ailene Marie Dory, age 91 of Warren, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2020 at the Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. She was born April 3, 1929 in Cass City, Michigan to the late Glen and the late Jennie (nee: Stanton) Deneen.
Ailene always proudly spoke of being raised as a "farm girl". She would tell tales of how she could run barefoot down a gravel road, and how walking around the block entailed walking 4 miles.
She moved to Detroit after she graduated from Cass High School in 1947. Ailene started work at Woolworth's where she met Delphine Dory, sister of her husband Richard. Delphine introduced Ailene to Richard one day at work, and she literally "fell" head over heels in love with him. They married on February 20, 1954, after Richard returned from the Korean War, and were married for 55 years. They were blessed with two children, William and Cheryl. Ailene was known as Aunt Beanie to her many nieces and nephews. She acquired the nickname of "Beanie" while working at Woolworth's, as her lunch would always consist of eating a can of Beanie Weenies.
Ailene was the beloved wife of the late Richard. She is survived by her son William (Veronica); grandchildren: Brian Dory, Bethany (Michael) Chandonais, Sara Dory (Robbie Post), and McKenna (Mitch) Miller; great-grandchildren:Lucas, Benjamin, Addison, and Maddox. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl M. Cole, and her siblings, Lyle, Carl, Jacqueline, James, Daniel, and Carol.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to McLaren Hospice, Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility, and all Healthcare Professionals, Caregivers, and extended family and friends who provided comfort, moral support, and care these last few years.
Due to current circumstances, private services are being held. Ailene will be interred along with her husband and love of her life, Richard, who will be placed in her loving arms at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park. Please continue to keep Ailene, Richard, and her family in your prayers.
Memorial donations are appreciated to the Michigan Humane Society.
