

Andrew Rawlings Henderson, Jr. was born June 17, 1941 in Macon, Georgia from the union of Ella Mae Askin and Andrew Henderson.Affectionately known by those close to him as Baybye (Baby Bye), Andrew attended Northern High School in Detroit, Michigan before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Andrew was one of a kind, and you would be hard-pressed to find many to argue that point. He brought many-a-laughs to those around him.Andrew's time in the Air Force shaped him for the better. Air Force servicemen are encouraged to "Aim High" and Andrew did his best to do just that. While stationed in the South, he met and married Claretta Conyers of South Carolina, and from their marriage they welcomed two wonderful children into the world, Karen and Kevin.On Tuesday, December 25, 2018, Christmas Day, Mr. Andrew Rawlings Henderson, Jr. departed from this life. Left to mourn his passing, but also to celebrate his life, are his daughter, Karen Scott; son-in-law, Gurnal Scott; son, Kevin Henderson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara E. Dillard and Elaine Henderson, a large host of nieces, nephews, longtime friends, and extended family members. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, sister Delores Pope, brother Larry Henderson.A Funeral Service for Mr. Henderson, to include the rendering of Military Honors, will take place on Friday, January 18th at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. The family welcomes guests from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. In recognition of his honorable service to our country, Mr. Henderson will be laid to rest at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.Please share memories of Mr. Henderson at his guest book above.
