

Anthony Edward Stangis, Happy age 77 a longtime resident of Warren, died Wednesday, January 05, 2011 at Triumph Hospital in Detroit. Tony was born April 02, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Anthony Stangis and the late Anna (nee: Zidek) Stangis. Mr. Stangis was raised in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School. Following high school he served in the United States Navy during Korean War having attained the rank of AM3. He enlisted on October 15, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan and discharged on October 5, 1956 in San Diego, California. Following his service to his country Mr. Stangis worked for over 45 years at General Motors as a pattern maker before retiring. When Happy was not working he loved the outdoors hunting and fishing. Another passion of Tonys' was wood carving, so much so that he attained the distinction of Master Wood Carver. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X council in Warren, and also was very proud to have served his country while in the United States Navy. Mr. Stangis enjoyed the simple things in life such as his family, faith, and country. Mr. Stangis was the beloved husband of the late Connie Stangis, and the dear father of Connie (Dale) Lindinger, Tony, Brenda, Norman (Diane), and the late Denise Stangis. Loving grandfather of Chrissy, Dan, Ronnie, Nick, Maggie, and Katie. Mr. Stangis was the brother of Del (John) Kozikowski, and the late Jim (Hazel) Stangis. He was also the loving companion of Phyllis Gurney. Visitation for Mr. Stangis will be Friday from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile Road).
