Charles "Chuck" Santini, age 88, died Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Chuck was born December 27, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan where he was raised as a young boy, and later in Highland Park before his family finally settled in Warren, Michigan.
Chuck graduated from Warren High School and later was called to duty during the Korean War. We honor all veterans including comrade Charles Santini for is faithful and honorable service to his family and country.
Chuck returned home after his military service and found employment working for J & L Steel in Detroit. His career spanned for over 29 years as a steel worker within the steel manufacturing business before retiring in 1983.
When Chuck was not working he loved all sports, however his most favorite sport to watch was Detroit Red Wing hockey. He loved all of Detroit sports including Tigers baseball, and even the Detroit Lions. As a boy he played all sports and later in life enjoyed bowling on many different leagues.
Chuck took great pride of his home in Warren where he planted flowers and had a wonderful garden where he grew his much sought after tomatoes. He loved the sun on his face and enjoyed all the time spent outside, whether fishing in Michigan or out on a beach in Florida. Chuck fished salmon out of Ludington and Walleye out on Lake Huron from his retreat in Port Austin. Quiet time for Chuck was usually spent at home with his faithful dog, Zoe sitting right next to him.
Chuck never met anyone that did not become an instant friend. If he was at a classic car show or out at a restaurant, Chuck was the consummate socializer and a bit of a flirt with the ladies. He made friends everywhere he went including the horse track where he would wager on the ponies. Chuck was a friend to all and will be sorely missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his dog Zoe, and the many friends with whom he would always welcome with a big smile.
Chuck was the beloved husband of Rose, and dear father of Nicholas (Julie) Santini, Angie (Don) Oleskie, Pam (Tim) Huff, and the late Joe Santini. He was the loving grandfather of Nicole, Tom, Lisa, Jacob, Genna, Joe, and the late Scott. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, and many family members and friends.
