D. Jean Eckhardt, age 89 of Warren, died Monday, June 3, 2013.She was born on January 19, 1924 in Detroit, daughter of the late William Joseph and the late Alpheda (nee: LaMothe) Baiocchi. Along with pouring the best of herself into the care of her family, Jean was also a consummate professional whose skills and business acumen were poured into the 25 years she spent working for the Warren Consolidated School District. With a desire and vision to be an integral part in molding the lives of the young, Jean's dedicated and loyal service truly made a difference. Throughout her tenure, she was proud and honored to serve as a member of the Board of Education,...as well as President of the Warren Consolidated School District, a position she held for 8 years. It's been said; "the best things in life aren't things"...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and this truly applied to Jean when it came to her precious cherubs, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored these living & breathing blessings from God, and did everything within her caring spirit to instill and share that special kind of love that can only come from Grandma. Nobody's doted on their grandchildren more than Jean, and together they spent countless hours making the memories that will live in their hearts forever. But of all the things that brought her joy and pleasure, the pinnacle was simply being with her loving soulmate, Harvey. Together, they shared a relationship that set an example for many and defined the word "love" in marriage to all. Their love was both comfortable and warm, and they spent a lifetime enjoying each others company and sharing common pleasures. One of their favorites was traveling, especially when it entailed escaping the concrete jungle for a jaunt to the beauty and serenity of northern Michigan,...and an oft visited Traverse City. But their travels weren't resigned simply to the Mitten State. When Michigan turned cold, Jean & Harvey turned south,...and their travels would find them weathering winter in the sunshine and warmth of Florida. In playing the role of Snowbirds, they absolutely loved their southern digs in the quaint community of Port Charlotte. With both of them being retired since 1986, they were blessed to share many wonderful and memory-making moments.A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Jean leaves behind a legacy of love that will transcend her presence here and become that beacon of strength and hope with each remembrance shared. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls along the way,...and lives were changed because she lived. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Harvey. Dear mother of Randy (Judy) Eckhardt, Gail (Fred) Elias, Lisa (Francisco) Fernandez, and the late Brian Eckhardt. Loving grandmother of Amy, Kevin, Michelle, Jessica, Rebecca and Fred John. Devoted great-grandmother of Luke, Ellie, Matthew, Isabella, Natalie, Andrew, Julia, Trevor and Carly. Sister of Marilyn Emberton, and the late William Baiocchi. Visitation for Jean will be held on Thursday, June 6th from 3-9pm, with a 6:30pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren.
