David Ryan Ohlrich, age 58 of Warren, passed away at home on Sunday, October 4, 2020 under the care of his family and the angels at Henry Ford Hospice. He was born July 27, 1962 in Detroit, son of the late Marvin George and the late Beverly Anne (nee: Finkbeiner) Ohlrich.
By day, David worked in the tool & die industry as a Quality Control Inspector which called upon his detailed and precise nature to get the job done. At home, some of that same exactness was evident in his affinity for all things computer related,…especially when he was wearing the hat as computer repairman. Whether he was fixing them, programming them, or simply getting the most out of them, David was perfectly content with his computer proclivities,
And not merely computers, David was also quite handy around the house as an incomparable “Mr. Fix-It” as well. To coin the old phrase,…David was a “Jack of all trades and master of none.” Repairing things gave him immense joy and pleasure, and David just loved tinkering around the abode in search of something to fix.
Gardening also provided David a source of pleasure that permeated his soul and was regenerated through the many harvests he gleaned over the years. Possessing a green thumb and the heart of a horticulturalist, David’s garden was simply an extension of his soul and the tender-loving-care he poured into its growth. Nurturing it with the love of a farmer, his little bit of country amidst the city always seemed to make a hit with his loved ones and neighbors. And the best of the bunch were his prize tomatoes,…as big as the moon in the sky!
When he wanted to simply chill and be entertained, his favorite TV fare seemed to fit the bill. A lover of all things Sci-fi, the show “Dr. Who” was also a huge draw for David, as was the iconic “Star Trek” series. He could easily wind down while watching Spock trying to make sense of Bones. Good stuff!
David had a kind heart, a giving spirit, and never said no to helping others in need. Like the old adage states, “he was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back.” He truly lived an unselfish life and put others’ needs ahead of his own. He especially loved kids and could spend all day doting on his nieces and nephews. Their youthfulness helped make all the difference in the world.
A loving husband, father, and brother, David leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished always with each reflection shared. He will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Beloved husband of Susan. Dearest father of Christopher and Scott. Cherished brother of Jim, and Marvin (Becky). Loving uncle of Jessica, Amy, and Tracy; Great-uncle of Abigail, Hank, and Brooks.
