Diane Lynn Gill, age 52 of Center Line, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Diane was born July 12, 1969 in Sterling Heights, Michigan, daughter of Ralph and Barbara (nee: McNelly) Lanham.
In her pre-maternal days, Diane was a highly-regarded hairdresser & cosmetologist who spent her days bringing beauty to the lives of others and helping to build upon their self-esteem. She was quite talented and had her own unique “flair with hair.” She knew it was true….“when you look good you feel good,” and her customers were some of the best lookin’ folks in town.
But then life began to take a wonderful new change for Diane when God ushered her into the realm of motherhood, and soon along came her firstborn, Troy, beaming with the beauty of his mother and the strength of his father,…and the “Gill Family” was birthed. Troy would be followed by Zachary, with Dylan coming soon thereafter,…and Diane’s dreams of becoming a mother were gloriously realized through the gift of her three boys. Not only a mother, Diane was also a consummate homemaker,…a role she was glad to fulfill, and one in which she truly shined. Though it was a role with a host of demands and responsibilities, Diane awoke each day to behold the beauty in her boys’ faces and couldn’t help but to be infused with the joy and elation as only a mother can know and understand. It’s an exuberance that comes from seeing the big picture,…and to look at her boys today, they truly are a wonderful exemplification of her love and the best she had to offer as they’ve grown and matured.
When Diane was able to find some time outside of the house, she always gravitated to her favorite place in the world,…her backyard garden, the oasis of her own renewal and regeneration. From the myriad of vegetables to the outstanding array of flowers that adorned her little urban “Patch ‘O’ Plenty,” there was considerable pride poured into her garden sanctuary, along with a great deal of tender-loving-care through her impressive prowess,…and a green thumb like no other. Not only did her garden produce a harvest of treats for the dinner table over the years, but the surrounding neighbors were never at a loss for the color extravaganza that emanated from her magnificent floral display. When you gazed upon Diane’s garden, you just knew she was inspired from above.
A loving wife, mother and sister, Diane leaves us far too soon, but not without imparting the best of herself into the hearts and souls of all with whom she was blessed to share life’s journey. With her selfless spirit and heart of compassion, Diane made an impact upon countless lives and desired to make the world a better place,…one person at a time. She truly had a servant’s heart, an angel’s countenance, and a warrior’s strength,…all wrapped up in the meekness of God’s divine mercy. She may be absent from our presence, but she will remain ever-present in the hearts and minds of all who reflect and remember the lessons of love she taught,…by simply being herself. She will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Diane was the beloved wife of Robert James Gill, Jr. Loving mother of Troy, Zachary, and Dylan Gill. Dearest sister of Kathy (Dave) Grass, Linda (Steve) Kneebone, Eddie (Lisa) Lanham, Steve (Crystal) Lanham, Michael Lanham, and the late Richard Lanham.
Visitation for Diane will be held Thursday, July 15th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren, Michigan.
Her Funeral Services will take place on Friday, 11:00 am at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tracy Herald of Warren.
