Diane Marie Lopen

Diane Marie Lopen, age 83, passed away on May 12, 2025. Diane was born on October 27, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Benjamin and Virginia Sepkowski. Following Benjamin’s early passing, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Joseph Guciardo.

Diane had the rare gift of being the world’s best listener. A cup of coffee and a conversation with company was among one of her greatest joys.

Diane enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel, adoring all dogs, especially beagles, and hearing stories about her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She leaves behind family, friends, and neighbors who will forever be grateful for her sense of humor, wit, kindness, and support. Her outreach of generosity was displayed through offers of prayers and the lighting of a candle to ease the worries of others.

Diane Lopen is the beloved mother of John (Brigid Costello) Lopen and Donna (Rolf) Garcia. The loving grandmother of John (Jessica) Lopen, Nathan, Sean, Ryan Lopen, Joseph, and Gianna Lombardi, and the cherished great-grandmother of Lucas, Jack, and Max Lopen. Also survived by her dearest cousin, Sandra Weaks. Diane was predeceased by her husband, John, and parents, Joseph and Virginia Guciardo (nee Sepkowski/Koss).

In place of flowers, any donations made to the Alzheimer's Association in her honor would be deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, from 5 pm until the time of the rosary service at 7 pm, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren. Instate will be held at the funeral home the following day, Friday, May 16, from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at noon. Diane will be interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
