Dolores Marie Poisson, age 77 of Warren, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 23, 1937 in Detroit, daughter of the late Angelo and the late Veronica (nee: Kukar) DeCesare. For many years, Dolores was one of the kind and compassionate faces that people came to know in their time spent at Detroit's Holy Cross Hospital. Whether you were a patient or family member there for a short while, or a staff member that Dolores shared each day with on the job,…she truly made a lasting impression on your heart and soul, be it temporarily or long term. Over the years, she wore many different hats in the eclectic array of responsibilities she took on for the hospital, but was most proud of the position she held at the twilight of her career as a Buyer for the facility. With a longstanding history and impressive portfolio of achievements, Dolores retired from Holy Cross after 27 years of dedicated and loyal service to her workmates, and the community.Another eclectic array in Dolores' life were the many pastimes she enjoyed when she wasn't busy at work or attending to the needs of her family. Amongst her many facets of fun, there's no doubt she had that "gaming gene" surging through her being. Whether it was giving Ol Lady Luck a run for her money in a game of chance, or a rousing game of scrabble or pinochle, Dolores loved to compete. The casino was one of her favorite stomping grounds, and the one-armed-bandits were her prey. Once she cornered one of those snagglepusses, it was in for a workout it'd never forget. The Bingo Hall was another venue for her to feed that gaming bug, as were the countless lottery cards she feverishly scratched off in hopes of beating the odds. When it came time for a little family fun, she could never get enough of the trips up north to the family cottage in Parry Sound, Canada. It was there that many warm and heartfelt memories were made as she and her entourage exchanged the madness of Motown for a bit of Canadian peace and serenity. But family outings closer to home weren't so shabby either. Trips to the Cider Mills, frolicking on the beach, or the ever-popular Family BBQ,…these were just a few of the moments she lived for to enjoy with her loved ones,…and she did so with style.Along with her fun and gaming side, she was equally classy and poised with a love for the arts and theatre that balanced out this unique and genuine spirit. And with her artsy flair came the love of decorating, a form of creative expression that flowed from her with each passing season. Dolores' house and yard always had an award winning appeal, and she poured the best part of her talents into creating an environment that was both inviting and festive. Her favorite season of the year was definitely Fall, and that was when she pulled out all the stops. The season that ushers in some of the most sentimental times within family,…is it any wonder why she loved Fall so well?Like most Moms out there, Dolores could cook her heart out and work her own unique magic in the kitchen. Some of the fondest and most memorable times are those woven around the dinner table, and she always made mealtimes a joy. Of all the magical things she prepared, nobody could hold a candle to Dolores' Southern Fried Chicken,…or even more so, those incredible and delectable Chocolate Chip Cookies. Got Milk? Dolores bore a countenance that was infectious. You couldn't help but to want to be around her. A lady of immense integrity,…immeasurable love,…and one devoted to her Catholic faith, these are just a few of the traits that defined this wonderful woman and made her quite special in the eyes and hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She was also immensely loyal, as evidenced by the longstanding relationships she shared with childhood friends, Carol, Marcy and Rosie. Throughout all the years following their youth, the girls made a pact that they would reconnect once-a-month and maintain the bond between themselves,…and they kept that promise right up until Dolores' death. Now that's love! And she absolutely loved the little ones, the children that captured her heart and kept her young. Yet, without question, her greatest joys in life were those wrapped in the arms of family and the moments they shared in nurturing the love between them. She raised four beautiful, strong and independent daughters, a testament to the discipline of a caring parent. And through her abiding faith and servant's heart, Dolores managed to touch a multitude of lives along her journey in life. She leaves a legacy of love that will continue to beat in the hearts of all the lives she impacted with each remembrance shared. May she enjoy the blessings of Heaven and rest in peace.
