Donald E. Clark, age 84 of Clinton Township, died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. He was born on November 16, 1929 in Detroit, son of the late Lawrence and the late Hattie (nee: Rupnow) Clark. Most notably, Don will be remembered as that smiling face behind the bar at his establishment in Port Huron, the infamous "Colony Bar." A popular watering hole amidst the downtown setting, it's close proximity to the McMorran Auditorium made it a favorite haunt for some famous sports figures when they were in town, the Detroit Red Wings. It always made for a special and entertaining evening when the Boys in the Winged Wheels would stop in after a skate. Another notable mention would definitely have to be his association and fraternal brotherhood with the Knights of Columbus. Along with his involvement and history in the esteemed group of Catholic servants, Donald had also attained the honored level of 4th Degree Knight,…a renowned and special brotherhood within a brotherhood of distinguished men.Other venues where many may remember Donald would include St. David Catholic Church in Detroit where he ushered for quite some time. Then there was the time he spent at Belle Maer Marina in Harrison Township where he served as a guard for the facility. But his favorite job of all (and not really a "job") was the role he played as father and grandfather. Family meant the world to Donald, especially when it came to sharing in the creation of those special and memorable moments together. When Donald wasn't working, he loved to grab the clubs and head to the links for a little golfing enjoyment. Always in search of that elusive "hole-in-one,"…being on the golf course just never ceased to be a prime opportunity for fun, regardless of how the shots were panning out. He also loved to challenge his mind, and nothing helped to feed that more than spending time solving a crossword puzzle. But for his ultimate escape from the cares of the world, one of the best medicines was found in his favorite cocktail, a "VO" infused Manhattan! It was always smooooooth going down, and a delight to the senses as well. And speaking of delights,…there was never a question about Donald's infatuation for his mother-in-law's cuisine, affectionately known as "Grandma DiMeo's Italian Delights." If you left her table hungry, it was your own fault,…but that was never a problem for Donald!A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Donald's life impacted countless hearts and souls. From his faith, to his humor, and his constant caring spirit, he leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories shared with both family and friends alike. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Donald was the former husband of Evelyn, the devoted mother of his four children; Michael (Karen) Clark, Gregory (Stephanie) Clark, Donna Clark, and Jeffrey (Marie) Clark. Loving grandfather of Justin, Ryan, Sarah, Nicholas, Alexander, Jesse, James, and great-grandfather of Courtney. Brother of Betty Dibart and Dolores Paton. Visitation for Donald will be held on Friday, December 27th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Knights of Columbus Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. He will lie in state on Saturday from 9am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Road in Clinton Township. Memorial donations are welcomed to the American Diabetes Association, 30200 Telegraph Road, Suite 105, Bingham Farms, MI 48025. Please share memories of Donald at his memory book.
