Don retired from General Motors after 38 years of dedication as an Industrial Engineer. Don also served his country as a member of the Military Police in the Army Reserves in the 1950's. Don's zest for life was amazingly obvious in everything that he did and everyone he touched. His uproarious laughter, his infectious smile and relaxed demeanor were constant reminders of how Don approached life. His love of travel will always be remembered. His adventures took his family and him to Florida (Miami in the old days and Ft. Myers most recently), Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Yellowstone, seeing shows in Branson, MO, fishing in Marathon Key, relaxed fun in Key West and especially an entire month-long family vacation in 1984 where they packed up the family van and drove out west to see every site there was to be seen!Don was a loving husband, companion, father and grandfather. He was an integral part of his three children's lives and didn't miss a thing. He coached hockey for all three kids…Dawn in the morning, Danielle in the afternoon and Donnie at night. He didn't miss an opportunity to be a part of their lives. Don relished his role as a grandfather where he was fondly called Grampa and Papa. He never missed a special occasion, a sporting event or a school play that involved his cherished grandkids. Special memories include family reunions at Frankenmuth, MI, babysitting all the grandkids, and celebrating their special accomplishments. Grampa always expected the best from everyone and no matter the award or achievement, he would fondly remind his grandkids, "There is always room for improvement."Don was especially blessed to share his life with two amazing women, Audrey, his wife of 47 years and Sherry, his special companion for 7 years.
