Donna Marie Senko
February 7, 1959 – February 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Marie (nee Bayus) Senko, beloved mother, sister, neighbor and friend, who left this world on February 15, 2025. She was 66 years old. Donna was born on February 7, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, to George Michael Bayus and Maxine Elaine (nee Quist) Bayus. She was the third of four children and grew up in a home full of love and laughter.
Donna’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to her two children, Kate and Steven, often saying that her greatest achievement was raising them. Her nurturing spirit, boundless support, and caring nature made her the rock of their lives. She had a way of making everyone feel loved and valued. Donna’s bold sense of humor and wittiness always had a way of brightening any room whilst comforting those around her.
Her passion for life extended into many interests, with gardening being one of her greatest loves. Donna was known for her green thumb, cultivating beautiful gardens wherever she lived and took immense pride in her work. She was an active member of a local gardening group at Veterans Memorial Park, sharing her love of plants with others in her community. She even took master gardening classes at Michigan State University to perfect her gardening skills, always striving to learn more.
Donna also had an eye for vintage treasures, especially antiques. She could often be found hunting for hidden gems at estate or yard sales, her passion for collecting old treasures bringing joy and excitement to every find. Her creativity flowed in many ways, including through her artwork. She loved painting projects, but not in the traditional sense. She had an artistic touch that could be seen throughout the different rooms in her home.
Music was another one of Donna’s great loves, from the upbeat tunes of disco to the soulful sounds of Motown, she found comfort and joy in the rhythm of life. She had a diverse taste in music and always found great pleasure in relaxing to her tunes.
Donna was also a loving companion to her cherished Pitbull mix, Lily. The two were inseparable, and Lily was more than just a pet - she was Donna’s best friend. Their bond was a testament to Donna’s caring heart, and they spent countless hours together, bringing joy to one another's lives.
Donna leaves behind her children, Katie (Jim) Harrington and Steven Senko, who will forever carry her memory and the lessons of love, kindness, and strength she instilled in them. She is also survived by her siblings, David (Patricia) Bayus, Mary (Giuseppe) LoPiccolo, and Kenneth (Beth Ann) Bayus; her nieces and nephews, David (Danielle Grant) Bayus, Matthew (Nicole) LoPiccolo, and Meredith Bayus; grandniece Sasha and grandnephew Marcus; and a host of friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and humor.
Donna will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, laughter, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Visitation for Donna will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.
