Ellen Jean Funk

Ellen Jean Funk, age 89, died Friday April 4, 2014 in Warren, Michigan. She was born August 3, 1924 in Royal Oak, Michigan to the late Thomas Noble and the late Ellen (nee:Burns) Noble.On January 26, 1946, Ellen's life was gloriously changed when she promised herself in marriage to the man who swept her off her feet, her beloved Ralph "Neil". They would go on to share the next 67+ years together growing more in love and raising six beautiful children. Along with her most important work as a Mom and caregiver, Ellen also worked outside of the home as a bookkeeper for their family business, NFL Tire Services in Warren. Following a long history of hard work ethics, she retired from the family business after 25+ years of service. When she wasn't working, Ellen had special pleasures which she enjoyed both indoors and out of doors. While inside the house, you'd often find her preparing for company by cooking, cleaning and getting ready for a good old fashioned BBQ. For those outdoor occasions, Ellen loved to travel. Trips with friends and family were her absolute favorite. Some of those trips included the tropical paradise of Hawaii and the spectacular tundra of Alaska. Some of the smaller excursions included getting out and going to the Brewery in Clinton Township for dinner,...which was one of Ellen and Ralph's favorite hot spots for dinner. When it came to her family & friends, she had the biggest heart of all. And the gifts she possessed, none was greater that the love she carried and shared with each & every one of them. Ellen leaves behind a legacy of love and care that goes unmatched, and which will be remembered for all eternity. She will be missed immensely.She was the beloved wife of Ralph "Neil". Loving mother of Katherine (Nicholas) Becharas, Thomas (Alicia) Funk, Susan (Bob) Deters, Linda (Douglas) Guysens, Karen (Gary) Ostrowski and the late Charlotte Funk. Devoted grandmother of Lela, Mitchell, Lesli, Sandra, and Jaime. Great-grandmother of 4. A Memorial Visitation will be held for Ellen on Sunday from 12pm until the time of her Memorial Service at 2pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren. Please share memories at her guest book.
