Eric E. Scheuer, age 57, of Warren, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his home. He was born July 25, 1953 in Detroit, the son of Stephanie and the late Eugene Scheuer. A resident of St. Clair Shores during his school years, Eric was a proud member of Lakeview High School's graduating class of 1970. On June 21, 1980, Eric's life would be forever & beautifully changed when he watched the love of his life, Mary Jo, take that walk down the aisle as the two became husband & wife. They would go on to share the next 30 years growing in love, building a home, and nurturing a precious family together,...all through the promises they shared on that special day. In 1986, Eric landed the job of his career dreams when he went to work for Modern Prototype and was able to exercize his talents and skill set as a Machine Repairman. After extending the utmost in dedicated service to the company, he was ultimately promoted to the position of Facilities Manager. Eric enjoyed a rewarding 16 years with the firm until the sad news came of their closing in 2002. Not content with being laid off, he decided to take a dive in the entrepreneurial pool of self-employment and began his own Handyman Service. Being the consummate perfectionist he was, he spent the next 9 years offering his own brand of the Mr. Fix-It that everyone knew him to be. Then, this past March 25th, he managed to land another position as a machine repairman with the Witzenmann Company. This new position brought him profound satisfaction as he was able to learn about new and different machinery, which was perfect for Eric as he possessed an insatiable desire to grow and learn new things. In the short time he was with the company, he was instantly liked and respected for the strong work ethics he brought to the table. When he wasn't working, Eric enjoyed an eclectic array of pastimes, most of which were centered around the sporting genre. First, in the early 90's, there was his facination with Scuba Diving. When it came time for putting his scuba training to the test, he decided to pass up the waters of the Great Lakes for the pristine warmth of the waters in Cozumel, Mexico. He found great enjoyment of suitin' up and swimmin' with the fishes. Following that, his next stint embodied the ever-popular Great Lakes sport of boating. Along with his desire to be "in" the water, now he enjoyed being "on" the water,...this time, though, with just a little more power than what his flippers could provide. Moving on from the water sports, his next favorite discovery came in the world of target shooting. Eric's appreciation for firearms became so focused that he decided to join a brotherhood of gun pro's at the Huron Pointe Sportsman Association in Lenox Township. A member of the association for over 10 years, he was most proud of the position he held there as the Range Safety Officer. He truly enjoyed the comaraderie of his "brothers-in-arms" and their many bullet making sessions together. And it was his association within the club that ultimately led him to his love of deer hunting as well. Another of Eric's passions was found in traveling, and one of his favorite places to visit was Costa Rica which he was able to enjoy both in 2005 and 2006. Yet without a doubt, his greatest passion in life was wrapped around the love of family & friends. And the greatest of those were definitely his children, Heather and Ryan. To them both, he will be revered as the most wonderful father ever. Eric leaves behind a legacy of love that is strong and true, and he will be immensely missed. Eric is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Jo (nee: Vella) Scheuer; children, Heather and Ryan Scheuer; mother, Stephanie (nee: Watkovich) Scheuer; parents in law, Joseph and Mary Ellen Vella; siblings, Denise (John) Worden and Kurt (Julie) Scheuer; brothers in law, Chuck (Kathie) Vella, Jeff (Tanya) Vella, and Kenny Vella; sisters in law, Peggy Vella, Sharon (Bob) Hall, and Janet Trentham. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). Please share memories at Eric's guest book.
