

Ferdinand Frank Grobbel, 80, of Warren, Michigan, died Monday, July 7, 2008. Mr. Grobbel was born in Center Line, Michigan in 1928. In 1946 he served as a U.S. Navy Seaman in World War II; and in 1952 as a U.S. Army Sergeant in the Korean War. Upon honorable discharge from military service, he was self employed with Twin Pines Dairy and served customers in Warren and Center Line for thirty five years as a milk deliveryman. In 1954 he married Delores Marie Eisenman, whom he met through family friendships prior to serving in the military. Together they built their home and family in Warren where they raised their six children. Mr. Grobbel was known by all for his unmatched work ethic, his fierce play at Euchre and Cribbage, and his entertaining storytelling. He was known to many as the milkman. He was known by his family as Ferd, Dad, Grandpa, and Pappy. In his later years Mr. Grobbel enjoyed working for Joseph Kutchey and Sons produce business in Warren, gardening with his wife, baking breads and desserts, hunting with his sons, playing cards with his children and Grandchildren. He was devoted to prayer, in particular the Rosary. Mr. Grobbel is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Dianne (John) Bartolomeo, Joanne (Wayne) Burton, Gregory Grobbel, David (Mary) Grobbel, Mary Skotzke, and Brian (Ann) Grobbel; grandchildren, John and Brandon Hopper, Tyler and Spencer Burton, Elizabeth, Patrick, and Nathan Grobbel, Danielle and Sarah Skotzke, Olivia, Emily, Hannah, and Jacob Grobbel; siblings, Sylvia Kaltz, Mervin (Rose) Grobbel, Gilbert (Jeanne) Grobbel, and Ilene Grobbel; brother- in- law, Chester Beres. Predeceased by parents, Ferdinand and Eleanor Grobbel; siblings, LaVerne Beres, Marlene Grobbel; sister- in- law, Marta Grobbel; and, brother- in- law Norbert Kaltz. Visitation for Mr. Grobbel will be held Thursday from 3-9 pm at the D. S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 Mile), Warren. A Scriptural Rosary will be said Thursday evening. The funeral Mass will be Friday at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. He will be in state at 9:00 am and the Mass will be at 9:30 am. The service will be officiated by Fr. John Riccardo. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
