Frances M. Sajewski, age 98 of Warren, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born on January 19, 1913 in Hamtramck, the daughter of the late John and the late Helen (nee: Lupa) Mikulski. On May 23, 1937, Frances life was gloriously changed when she walked down the aisle at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck and promised herself in marriage to the love of her life, Anthony. It was in that fair city that the two met, fell in love, and would spend much of their early years together enjoying the old world neighborhood that Hamtramck was noted for. Never having driven an automobile, Frances was well-acquainted with every square foot of Hamtramck as she saw it all on foot. She walked everywhere and knew everybody as she went about her way, one step at a time. Like most Polish mothers and grandmothers, Frances was no stranger to the kitchen. Her cooking prowess was something to behold, and there was never an empty belly to leave her table. Her menu of culinary delights covered a wide range of expertise, but its the holidays that her loved ones will forever remember as the times when she produced her best & tastiest treats. At Thanksgiving, everyones mouth would water when it came to Frances dressing. With just the right amount of spices and her own special magic, the ever-popular side dish was easily a family favorite. Then, at Christmas and Easter, there was no matching her talents when it came to her infamous kielbasa, made from scratch, of course. With the help of her son Gerald, the two made a formidable team in cranking out the meaty, Polish delights that tickled the taste buds of all,and were truly Links of Love. When it came to personal enjoyment and pastimes, Frances enjoyed sitting around the table with friends over a rousing game of cards, and often it would be with her fellow members in the Pinnocle group. Pinnocle was her favorite, and together they shared countless hours of cards & camaraderie over the years. Yet their card playing was just part of the pleasure they shared as they also became traveling friends as well. From Wisconsin, to Mackinac Island, to sunny Florida, and a host of other prime spots in their travel portfolio, Frances enjoyed a storehouse of wonderful memories made in the company of her dear friends. Another of her favorite places to visit was the ever-enchanting, Frankenmuth. There was never a better place to go for a chicken dinner than Michigans Little Bavaria, and the town never disappointed, both in food or ambiance. For those moments by herself, Frances loved to crochet. The intricate work of her hands produced some incredible pieces, especially her beautiful afghans. Along with being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Frances was also a devout woman of faith. Ever prayerful and mindful of others, she touched many hearts along the pathway of life. For both family and friends alike, she leaves a legacy of love for all to cherish who knew her best. She will be immensely missed and eternally remembered. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony. Dear mother of Delphine (the late Edward) Knowles and Gerald Sajewski. Loving grandmother of Karen Mihelich, Sharon (Dan) McIsaac; and great-grandmother of John Mihelich, Elizabeth McIsaac, Matthew McIsaac, and William Mihelich. Visitation for Mrs. Sajewski will be held on Tuesday, July 26th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of Mass at 10:30am at St. Louise Catholic Church, 2500 Twelve Mile Road in Warren. Officiating the liturgy will be Msgr. Thomas Rice. Entombment will follow on Thursday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial donations are welcomed to the Capuchin Society, 1820 Mt. Elliott Avenue, Detroit, MI 48207.
