Francis Joseph Gorman "Frank", age 92 of Warren, died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1922 in Caulderbank, Scotland, son of the late Michael and the late Elizabeth (nee: Duffy) Gorman. With honorable mention on behalf of one of our country's greatest allies, we pay homage to Frank for his service in the British Army during World War II. For five years, he served his King & Country with honor and valor, and gave unselfishly toward the shared goal of America in preserving the cause of freedom and liberty from tyranny and unrest around the world. In 1950, Frank's journey took on a new and exciting path as he married the love of his life, Eileen. The two went on to nurture the warmth of home, raise three beautiful children, and grow deeper in love with each passing day. Their story began in England where they met & married, and would dream of a more thriving future. That dream eventually called them westward where they made their new home in the Canadian hamlet of Stratford, Ontario,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and ultimately, further west, to the Detroit area.In 1961, following former employment opportunities, Frank was hired by the F.A.G. Bearing company where he extended over 25 years of dedicated service until his retirement in 1986. When he wasn't working, he often enjoyed filling the room with his musical talents and the delightful sounds of his harmonica. But without question, Frank's favorite pastime was enjoyed on the golf course,...especially at Ramble or Sunnybrook. He was truly the definition of an "avid golfer" and did so well into his golden years. It didn't matter that advanced aging had found him becoming legally blind, Frank pressed on in spite of his challenge,...and even excelled at times. At the age of 89, he managed to earn the title of League Champion,...a feat to behold.Another of Franck's favorite pastimes was shared with his beloved Eileen in the travels they enjoyed throughout America, and in many destinations throughout Europe. Yet of all their glorious excursions, none have remained more treasured and heartfelt than the trips they enjoyed to Merry Ol' England,...where their story began. Every few years, Frank & Eileen would pack their bags and wing their way back to Great Britain to reminisce, reflect, and rekindle the embers of home,...the land where their roots were planted first.Friendship was an important part of Frank's life as well, and it was just one of the aspects he shared through his association and membership at the Commonwealth Club in Warren. Frank was the beloved husband, for over 65 years, of Eileen. Dear father of Rosaleen (Bob) Iwankovitsch, and the late Maureen (Greg) Ganz and Ann Gorman. Loving grandfather of Joe Muniz, Jenny Luttermoser, Emily Iwankovitsch, and great-grandfather of Jace. A Memorial Visitation for Frank will be held on Friday, March 13th from 9:00am until time of the Memorial Service at 9:30am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren.Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren. Please share memories of Frank at his memory book above.
