

Genevieve "Jean" Gorski, age 90, died January 7, 2015 at the American House Senior Living in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Genevieve was born December 2, 1924 in North Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late John Wozniak and the late Sophie (nee: Bunar) Wozniak.Genevieve was raised in Illinois and later met and married the love of her life, Edwin Gorski. The two were joined in holy matrimony on June 16, 1945 at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago, Illinois. The family later settled on the east side of Detroit where the couple raised four children.Jean never drove a car her entire adult life,...however, she always found the resources to grocery shop and get to church, along with providing for her family. Jean was devoted to her church, Holy Name in Detroit, where she served on the Woman's Guild along with helping keep the church and sacristy tidy.Jean was the consummate homemaker and "stay at home mom." She was a wonderful cook and extraordinaire baker. Her pies were second to none, and during the holiday season the cookie tins were lined up all over the house to give as gifts to friends. Jean kept her home immaculate and had a bit of a green thumb in her garden. As time passed, Jean never lost her wonderful sense of humor... that became so important in her many social activities with her friends, and later her caregivers at the American House. Jean affectionately had a nickname for the many loving friends she enjoyed at America House.Mrs. Gorski was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Gorski, and is the loving mother of Ron (Diana), Connie (Kim) Stonier, John (Maureen) and Pat (Tim) Shoales. She was the devoted grandmother of Jennifer (David) Selby, Eric (Gabbie) Pelloni, Stephanie (Scott) Kapchinski, Karen Pelloni, Tim (Laura) Gorski, Emily Shoales, Clara Shoales, Brandon Stonier, Christian Stonier and the late Michael Stonier. Loving Great-grandmother of Brandon Stonier Jr., Andrew Kapchinski, Addison Selby, Parker Gorski, Ryan Selby, Hayden Gorski, Ava Grace Stonier, and Edwin (EJ) Pelloni. Predeceased by siblings, Mary (Frank) Celesnik, Anne (Joseph) Patricelli, Victoria (Raymond) Mageria, Stella Norkus, Charlotte (William) Michalowski, Florence Wozniak, Charles (Mitzi) Michalski, Joseph Wasnick, John (Evelyn) Wozniak, and Edward (Adeline) Wozniak. She also leaves many other loving family members.Visitation for Mrs. Gorski will be Sunday, January 18th from 3:30-8pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren. Her Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, January 19th at the Funeral Home.
