Genowefa Gdyra, age 92 of Center Line, died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Harper University Hospital in Detroit. She was born February 14, 1922 in Poland, daughter of the late Michael and the late Veronica (nee: Tofel) Brzezicki.Like many proud, Polish matriarch's, Genowefa's talents and skills in the kitchen were not only evident, but appreciated by all who were blessed to sit around her table. She loved to cook and enjoyed when others found delight in her meals,…especially when it came to her signature pierogi's and stuffed cabbage. It's been said, "when you're eating, you're happy," and her table was constantly filled with smiling faces. If you left hungry, it was definitely your own fault.Another talent she possessed was found in the beauty of her yard and the prolific gardens she maintained. From her gorgeous roses that were a thing of splendor,…to the hearty vegetables she harvested,…it was quite evident that Genowefa was adept in tilling the soil, as well as nurturing her garden with the utmost in tender-loving-care,…and it showed. And along with the beauty and setting of her yard, she found great enjoyment in watching the indigenous birds that populated her homestead. She always kept her bird feeders full and inviting, and simply loved sitting back and enjoying the show. For a little "away from home" enjoyment, the optimum entertainment meant heading to the casino and giving those one-armed-bandits a run for their money. Challenging Ol' Lady Luck provided her countless hours of pleasure, and memories that were always treasured,…especially when she came away a "winner."And being the doting Grandma, her precious grandchildren will always remember the chocolates she bestowed upon them,…just one of the traditions they came to love. There might have been a bit of a question as to the age of the chocolates from time to time, but they were always a gift from the heart. Genowefa will be missed by many who came to know and love her, especially her furry, four-legged friends, Basha & Molly, the chihuahua's, and Heidi, her shih-tzu. We can be loved by humans all day long, but there's just something unique and special about the love we garner from our pets,…and Genowefa adored each of hers with a deep and abiding affection.A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Genowefa leaves a legacy of love as unique & genuine as the lady she was to all who knew her. In her own way, she impacted many lives through her journey in life and a host of wonderful memories for all to draw upon with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Genowefa was the beloved wife of the late Jan. Dear mother of Jenny Seelye, Lucy Sajor, Mary Jane (Jim) Hentkowski, John Gdyra, the late Adam, and the late Evelyn.
