Gordon was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1954 to 1956. Gordon and his wife Fran were founding members of Hope Lutheran Church. He loved to build and fix things and was given the honor of making the very first pulpit for the church. He was always tinkering and building, finding broken things to create something new and even constructing a motor from a sewing machine onto their sausage grinder. After he retired, he started a company with his friend, Eagle Thread Verifier LLC, where he patented an automated thread verifier. Gordon was an avid golfer, going with friends and family. When they were hosting any special event, he was always at the grill making ribs with his homemade barbeque sauce. Everywhere he went his wife was at his side. They loved spending time together, taking long road trips to see her family in New York and Pennsylvania.
Gordon is the beloved husband of almost 69 years to the late Frances Taylor. He is the loving father of Gordie (Yvonne) Taylor, Kathy (Scott) Williams, and Mark (Jenny) Taylor.
