Helen Jean Kwiatkowski, (90), passed away early Wednesday morning, October 27, 2010 at Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren, Michigan. Helen celebrated her 90th birthday throughout the day on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 with family and friends. She is the wife of the late Bruno Kwiatkowski and is survived by her sons, Ray (Diana) and Bob (Gloria) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Most importantly, Helen was the proud grandmother of Ray and Diana's lovely daughters, Lisa and Mary. Helen contracted polio at the tender age of 18 and as a result has been an inspiration to everyone due to her strength and determination to live a normal life in spite of her life-long pain and disability. She was generous to a fault. She was a talented crocheter, a wonderful baker and a tireless advocate of the less fortunate. Creating beautiful outfits for dolls to donate to the Goodfellows charities is only one example of her good heart. Helen was dearly loved by her friends and family. Her nieces and nephews often share memories about her good humor, advice and generosity. She will be sorely missed by all. Helen played bingo with her son, Ray, just the afternoon before her death. Helen always used to say, "People who get to die in their sleep must have done something right in their lives." Helen didn't realize that she was to be included with those "People" and had the good fortune to die the way she wished. Helen and Bruno married in 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Frank Oziem, her husband, Bruno and her brothers, Chuck, Stanley and Harry. Private services are being held through D. S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). Please share a memory in her guestbook.
