

James Arthur Kitka, age 68, died March 26, 2014 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. James was born September 17, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Stanley Kitka and the late Rita (nee: Tabaczynski) Kitka.James was raised in Detroit and attended Holy Name Catholic School. Following his schooling, James joined the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we honor Comrade Kitka for his faithful and honorable service to the United States. During his term of service, James received many accolades and commendations including the prestigious Purple Heart.Following his military service, James returned to the Detroit area and went to work, first, at the Dodge Main Plant, and then for General Motors in Pontiac. James worked for General Motors for over 37 years before retiring from the General Motors Technical Center in Warren.When Jim was not working, he was an avid sports fan who loved watching Football. He was also a sports historian and statistician who could recite many facts regarding sports from many years earlier. Jim was also involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6691 in Fraser, Michigan.James was the loving brother of Karen (Philip) Dalecki, and dear uncle of Donna (Ron) Beras and Renee Dalecki.Visitation for James Kitka will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 3-9pm, with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Mr. Kitka will lie In State on Tuesday, 9:30am, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Fraser until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10am.
