James D. Matthew

James D. Matthew, 78, of Warren, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center. He was born September 5, 1929 in Detroit. Mr. Matthew, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired after 30 years of employment as a truck driver and member of Teamsters Local 299. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting and music events. His hobbies included crossword puzzles, playing cards, bowling, and watching sports on television. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (nee: Maloney); children, James (Kelli), Robert (Jill), and Daniel (Penny); grandchildren, Jacqueline, Christine, Samantha, Andrea, Nicholas, and Madison; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Matthew and Marion (Ermy) Arsenault; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marie (nee: VanSlembrouck) Matthew; brother, Robert Matthew; mother-in-law, Virginia Gervais; brother-in-law, Arthur Maloney; and sister-in-law, Lois Maloney. Visitation will be held for James Thursday 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Officiating the funeral service will be Luke & Meggan Farwell.
