

James Robert Owens, Jr., age 68 of Warren, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Detroit. He was born October 26, 1947 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, son of the late James Robert Sr. and the late Mary Evelyn (nee: Maddison) Owens.With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to James for his service to our country during the Vietnam War era. As a soldier in the U.S. Army, James answered the call to duty and was willing to stand in harm's way for the furtherance of freedom and the protection of our friends and allies in the region. We honor his service and extend our posthumous gratitude for wearing the uniform and representing our great country.James was employed for many years as a laborer in the automotive industry. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed favorite pastimes both in and out of the house. When he was looking to partake in his outdoor passions, it often meant heading to the water where James loved to canoe and fish. Both afforded him a sense of the peacefulness and tranquility that restored his soul,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and every once in a while, he'd see some action at the end of his fishing pole. For his passions indoors, James loved to read and solve crossword puzzles which provided him a little fun amidst feeding his brain. James was also quite the baseball fan and enjoyed the countless opportunities he had of attending many games and seeing the action up close & personal.Yet of all the joy that filled his heart and soul, nothing could compare to the happiness and fulfillment James received from spending time with close friends, Tracey, Michael, Thomas, and Tina. Together, these five friends formed a bond that James held precious and treasured beyond words,...and created many wonderful memories to be embraced with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.James was the beloved brother of Pat (Greg) Hall, Larry (Myra) Owens, Debra (Mike) Davis, Doris Ervin, Marie Owens, and was preceded in death by sister, Linda Page. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. Treasuring his memory will be lifelong friend, Tom Hughey.Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
