James Alan Watson, age 49, died suddenly on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Warren, Michigan. James was born September 22, 1970 in Detroit, Michigan, and was later raised in Warren, Michigan where he attended and graduated from East Detroit High School, the graduating class of 1988.
James would go on to attend college and later found employment with the accounting department at Bi-County Community Hospital in Warren. James worked for the hospital for over 20 years until the hospital ultimately closed. He went on to his current position as an accounting analyst with ABM Services where he worked for the past 7 years.
James was a kind, happy soul who enjoyed scary movies and books by Stephen King, along with science fiction and Star Wars. He was a kid at heart and his daughter Natalie would often attest that her dad still gamed and loved to watch goofy shows on TV and share his love of Debbie Gibson. Additionally, James was a die-hard Detroit Sports fan who enjoyed seeking celebrity autographs, and also loved riding roller coasters with his daughter.
Time away from home usually involved travel to different locations, and many trips to Las Vegas. James' pride and joy in life was to spoil his wife and daughter along with boasting to others of his daughter's theatrical and singing abilities. James and his wife cherished their time watching their daughter's many performances. Quiet time at home was usually spent playing with his cherished dogs, reading, or listening to music while sipping on a glass of Jack Daniels whiskey.
James was the loving husband of Karyn Watson, and cherished father of Natalie Watson. He was the beloved son of Pamela Watson and son in-law of Raymond & Diane Campbell. James was the brother-in-law of Michele Bozzer and Sandy Campbell. He is further survived by cousins, Gino (Jani) Grabinski, Terry (Jackie) Grabinski, Judy (James) Lucas, and many other family members and friends. James was predeceased by his aunt Sandra (Eugene) Grabinski.
Visitation for James will be held on Thursday, January 23rd from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. James will lie in state on Friday from 9:00 am, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren, until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am.
