

James Richard Yocum, Dick passed away at the age of 79, on October 16th, 2008 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich, MI. Dick was born on May 10th, 1929 in Springfield Ohio, the son of the late James Yocum and the late Lottie (nee: Harter) Yocum. Dick grew up in the Detroit area, and went on to graduate from Albion College. Mr. Yocum made his career in advertising, working at various agencies on car related projects. He finished his career as a Creative Art Director and Vice-President at Ross Roy. Richard was an avid fly fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed a good game of golf. After retiring, he was a volunteer on the art committee for the Meadow Brook Concours dElegance. He also developed a promotional book for the Concours dElegance, for which he and two other artists were given the Mobius Award. Mr. Yocum is survived by his three daughters - Susan Yeager, Kimberly Oleksyk, and Holly Ruzzin, nine grandchildren, his sister Jean Underwood, and Beverly Yocum. A private memorial service and burial was held at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Mr. Yocum was laid to rest near his parents and next to his late wife, Ruth Ann (nee: Lounsbery).
