

Janet Campbell Jenny McKellar (nee: Speirs), age 74 of Shelby Township, formerly of Warren and Romeo, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at her home in Shelby Township. Mrs. McKellar was born Janet Campbell Speirs "Jenny", June 20, 1931 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late John Speirs and the late Margaret (nee: McGarragle) Speirs. She is survived by her children, William (Lorie) McKellar, Linda (Thomas) Zimmerman, Elaine (Michael) Price, and Janet (David) Musilli. Loving grandmother of Joann, Margaret, Duncan, Andrew, Brooke, Sarah, Abigail, and Adam Robert. Dear sister of Christine Meek, John (Iris) Speirs, Robert (Joan) Speirs, Elizabeth Murray, and the late Sadie Irwin, James Speirs, and Margaret McIntyre. Sister in-law of Bill McIntyre. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. McKellar. Jenny was raised in Scotland and migrated to Canada at the age of 21, before she married and moved to Michigan with her new husband. The couple married in Highland Park and resided in Warren for over 33 years. After her husband retired, they built a new home in Romeo Michigan where they would spend the next 16 years. Mrs. McKellar was primarily a homemaker staying home and tending to her spotless house and raising her children. After the children were older she went to work part time for Sears Home Improvement and also for the J.C. Penny Company. Mrs. McKellar was and active and devoted member of her church. Her pastor will miss her beautiful voice in the choir. Jenny was the lead soprano in the choir, and when she herself was not singing, she could be found listening to opera or trying to teach herself the guitar. She also loved to paint and took up toll painting. Her other hobby included cake decorating. However her true love was her family and grandchildren. Visitation for Jenny will be Tuesday from 5-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Services will begin Thursday with Mrs. McKellar laying in state 10:30 am at Faith Trinity United Church of Christ until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Officiating the Funeral will be the Rev. Gene McCornack.
