John Carter Miracle, age 84, died at his home in Warren, Michigan on March 14, 2021. John was born May 13, 1936 in Corbin, Kentucky, son of the late John Harvey Miracle and the late Catherine (nee: Saylor) Miracle.
John spent his early years in Kentucky, however, he was a very adventurous young boy which led him to leave home at the early age of 13. John moved to Michigan where he lived with relatives. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, John returned home and went to work for his brother’s construction company. John was truly a “Jack of all Trades.” He was a gifted mechanic, welder, and builder. John found additional employment within the Paslin Company, and later became a gifted tool and die maker. It was while working at the Paslin Company that the owner convinced John he should join the City of Warren Fire Department. He began his career at the fire department in 1966 and never second guessed his decision. He also worked for himself delivering sod on his off days.
John worked for the Warren Fire Department for over 24 years, retiring in 1990. During his time at the department John worked in many capacities including District Vice-President, and later President of the Union, and also the Burn Unit for children. He was the “go-to” guy to fix a piece of machinery or solve a problem. Upon his retirement, John was working as the Chief of the apparatus division.
When John was not working, which was rare, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling on long road trips across the country. He and his children traveled to visit relatives stopping along the way at many historical sites. The family crisscrossed much of the country visiting the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite, and down to the Everglades. John always seemed to have a story, a joke, and a smile during his travels throughout his life. He will be forever missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
John Miracle is survived by his wife Caron of almost 60 years, his seven children, and his many grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
