Joseph Sapiano Jr. age 64 of St, Clair Shores, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Joseph was born September 20, 1951 in Detroit to Mary (nee: Vassalo) and the late Joseph Sapiano.Of all the traits and strengths that describe Joseph, his abilities and skills in cooking reigned supreme and were an integral part of his job as a Kitchen Superintendent at a correctional facility. Commissioned with the important task of overseeing the feeding of many hungry inmates each day, Joseph took his job seriously and was dedicated to his work. And while possessing all those culinary talents, he managed to transfer his cooking prowess to the smaller realm of home as well. He truly knew his way around the kitchen and could work some incredible, edible magic! When he wasn't working, one of Joseph's favorite pastimes was enjoying his love of the water and a sunny afternoon aboard the boat. There was just something refreshing and exhilarating about spending time on one of Michigan's Great Lakes and letting the smells of the water infuse the soul. Joseph will always be remembered for being a "Harley Dude" and a "Mr. Fix-It,"...especially when it came to tinkering on motors. Yet of all his loves in life, one of the most treasured was the relationship he shared with his four-legged buddy, "Bandit,"...the boxer who stole his heart. They say there's something special about a "boy and his dog,"...and that certainly rang true with Joseph & Bandit.A loving son, father, brother and friend, Joseph leaves behind a legacy of love that will be embraced, by all who were blessed to know him, with each reflection shared. He touched a multitude of lives throughout his journey and impacted many hearts with his abiding care. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Mr. Sapiano was the loving father of Peter Sapiano and Christopher (Christine) Sapiano. Joseph was the beloved son of Mary, and the dear brother of Paul (Linda) Sapiano, Mary Ann Sapiano and Inez Sapiano. He is further survived by his wife, Tracy Sapiano.Visitation for Joseph will be held Friday, January 29th from 3 - 9 pm at the D.S.
