Justo Fernandez

Justo Fernandez, age 91, a Warren resident for over 47 years, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Justo was surrounded by his loving family until his death. He was born December 2, 1924 in Asturias, Spain, son of the late Ignacio and the late Balbina (nee: Conde) Fernandez.Justo was raised in Spain and served in the Spanish Army during wartime. Following his military service, Justo returned home to his village where he worked the family farm. Justo eventually married the love of his life, Maria, and the young couple soon became parents to four children.With four young mouths to feed, Justo realized he needed to provide a better life for his family and sought better opportunities in the United States. The Fernandez family ultimately emigrated to Michigan in 1969... with hardly any money in hand,...the family of six worked hard and survived many challenges. Eventually, Justo attained a position with Chrysler Motors as a spot welder on the assembly line. Justo worked for over 20 years at the Chrysler Dodge Truck Mound Road Assembly Plant until his retirement.When Justo was not working, his life revolved around his family and grandchildren. Family celebrations and meals were very important to Justo as he loved to eat. His family remembered their father as a passionate man with a zest for life. He was hardworking, strong willed, very generous and giving, and loving to everyone he met. Fun times were spent playing cards with family and friends, and solitude was spent in the garden. Another character trait of Justo's was that he was truly a caretaker and caregiver to other family members. Whether it was taking his grandchildren to the General Motors Tech Center pond to feed the ducks or fish, or just babysitting the children at his home, Justo was always there for everyone. One trait he never forgot was his beloved Spanish heritage and his upbringing in Spain, the country he returned to many times to visit his extended family. Justo was so proud to be Spanish.Justo was the beloved husband of Maria C. Perez Conde, and is the dearest father of Piedad Mantinan, Manuel (Marie) Fernandez, Raul (Denise) Fernandez, and Ana Fernandez. Justo was the loving Abuelo of Michael (Karah) Mantinan, Rachel Mantinan, Robert (Elaine) Mantinan, Kelly (Joe) Masters, Karrie (Jeff) Case, Jennifer Fernandez, Steven Fernandez, Rebecca Fernandez, Melissa Quasunella, Amanda Quasunella, and great-grandfather of Giavanna, Milania, Tatum, Tenley, Aurelia,…with a Baby Boy arriving in May. He was also the brother of Ignacia Fernandez, was predeceased by siblings, Fermina, Consuelo, Angel, Jose, Domingo, Manuel, Victoria, Teresa & Balbina, and leaves many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members to cherish his memory. Visitation for Justo will be held Friday, January 29th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. He will lie in state on Saturday from 9am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Nick Zukowski.Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Justo estuvo en compañía de su familia hasta la muerte. Nació en Asturias, España, el 2 de diciembre de 1924, hijo de los difuntos Ignacio Fernández y Balbina Conde.Justo se crió en España y sirvió en el ejército español en tiempos de guerra. Tras el servicio militar, regresó a su aldea, donde trabajó en la granja familiar. Se casó con el amor de su vida, María Consuelo, y la joven pareja pronto tuvo cuatro hijos. Con seis bocas para alimentar y cuatro hijos jóvenes, Justo se dio cuenta de que tenía que hacer algo para ofrecer una vida mejor a su familia y decidieron buscarla en los Estados Unidos.Sin apenas dinero en los bolsillos, la familia Fernández, más unida que nunca, emigró a Michigan en 1969. Los seis trabajaron arduamente lidiando con los problemas que iban surgiendo. Justo consiguió un buen puesto de trabajo en Chrysler Motors como soldador de la línea de montaje. Trabajó durante 20 años en la Chrysler Dodge Truck Mound Road Assemply Plant, hasta su jubilación.En su tiempo libre, su vida giraba en torno a la familia. Las celebraciones familiares eran muy importantes para él, ya que disfrutaba mucho de sus seres queridos y del buen comer. Sus hijos siempre recordarán a Justo como un hombre apasionado y con muchas ganas de gozar de la vida. Era muy trabajador, de voluntad fuerte, y muy generoso y cariñoso con todos a quienes conocía. Le encantaba pasar buenos momentos jugando a las cartas y cuidando del jardín.Otra de las virtudes de Justo era la de proteger a toda su familia. Con frecuencia llevaba a sus nietos al estanque del General Motors Tech Center para dar de comer a los patos y los peces, o simplemente cuidaba de los niños en casa. Siempre estaba allí, siendo un ejemplo para todos. A pesar de haber emigrado tantos años atrás, jamás olvidó las raíces españolas y siempre que podía iba a visitar a aquellos familiares que había dejado atrás. Estaba muy orgulloso de ser español.Justo era el esposo de María Consuelo Pérez Conde, y el padre de Piedad Mantiñan, Manuel (Marie) Fernández, Raúl (Denise) Fernández y Ana Fernández. Era el abuelo de Michael (Karah) Mantiñan , Rachel Mantiñan , Robert (Elaine) Mantiñan , Kelly (Joe) Masters, Karrie (Jeff) Case, Jennifer Fernández, Steven Fernández, Rebecca Fernández, Melissa Quasunella, Amanda Quasunella, y el bisabuelo de Giavanna, Milania, Tatum, Tenley, Aurelia y de un bebé varón que llegará en mayo. Fue el hermano de Ignacia Fernández, y hermano de los difuntos Fermina, Consuelo, Ángel, José, Domingo, Manuel, Victoria, Teresa y Balbina. Asimismo, deja muchos sobrinos y otros miembros de la familia que estiman su memoria.Las visitas al tanatorio tendrán lugar el viernes 29 de enero de 3 a 9pm, con Rosario a las 7pm, en el D.S. Temrowski Casa Funeraria, 30009 Hoover Road en Common (12 ½ milla Rd), Warren. La misa del funeral será el sábado 30 de enero a las 9:30am en la St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road, Warren. La liturgia fúnebre la celebrará el Reverendo Fr.
