Kathleen Marie Musulin, age 74 of Warren, died Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Warren Campus. She was born on September 8, 1936 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Sylvester and the late Nellie (nee: Kelly) O'Rourke. Along with Kathleen's inherent traits of bringing the beauty & sparkle of her personality to all who knew her, the career path she chose couldn't have been more befitting than in the many years she spent bringing beauty & sparkle to her many clients at the retail counter. Her entire career emphasis was centered around cosmetics and women's fashions & fragrances, and it all began at the ever-nostalgic Winkleman's in downtown Detroit. From there, a career promotion would land her at the Houbigant Fragrance Company where she held the position of Manufacturing Sales Representative. Though the lion's share of her work was focused on women, Kathleen did have a hand in some men's fragrances as well. And this was never more profound than through the honor she experienced when Houbigant called on her to help launch Mohammed Ali's new fragrance for men, "Ali." Together, with the assistance of her cousin, Gail, Goddaughter, Amy, and Friend, Chris, the four of them "floated like butterflies & stung like bees" in intoducing the new cologne to the masses,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and experienced "knock-out" success. For the last 15 years, even up to the day before she passed, Kathleen was most proud of the tenure she shared with the retail giant, Macy's, where her talents were specialized in the Christian Dior product line. With all of her working years spent in enhancing the lives of others, there's no doubt that she loved her calling. When she wasn't working, Kathleen loved to travel, especially with her precious, Charlie. Almost always, their favorite destination was somewhere up north. From Traverse City to all points in between, especially the fall color tours, the memories they made and the sights they saw together brought her immense joy. Then, there was that one long distance trip that put the cherry on the sundae to all of their travels when they headed out to Las Vegas. It was definitely a "life changer" for Kathleen, and she loved to share of this exciting and glamorous event. With a maiden name of O'Rourke, there's no question that her irish roots ran deep,...and we all know, the irish love a good time. Kathleen was no stranger to this as she was renowned for her great sense of humor and how she always loved a good joke. She loved bringing laughter to the lives of others and enjoying the lighter side of life. In keeping with her irish heritage, every October found her involved with an annual fundraiser she shared with the "Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernian's" called the "Souper Bowl," a fundraiser for the Father Solanus foundation and the Capuchin Society. Working the dessert table, she and her friends were most proud of the many thousands of dollars they were able to secure for such an endearing cause. Her family will also remember what a charge they got out of Kathleen's support of the Pittsburgh Steeler's. It was an accrued love affair that she garnered from her beloved husband, Charlie, a native from Pennsylvania and huge Steeler's fan. Even after his death, she was one of the biggest banner wavers for the team. But in telling the story of Kathleen, perhaps the most profound trait she possessed was in her love of cats. Being the ultimate Cat Lover, and mother to a host of her own furry children, Kathleen's affection for her feline friends ran deep and wide, and the passion for her pets was unmatched by any other. Kathleen's life was a full one, a life that touched many along the way. The legacy of love she leaves behind is special and treasured, and her family is truly going to miss the wonderful get-togethers they shared making many warm and heartfelt memories. She will be immensely missed and eternally remembered. Though Kathleen was never graced with children of her own, she was truly blessed to be surrounded by a host of loving family members whom she leaves to cherish her memory. From the Musulin family, she leaves Lou & Gail and their children, Rudy, Darla, LouCinda and their families; Pete & Pat and their family; and the extended Musulin family of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are her niece, Mary Lou Peterson and her family; niece, Suzie (Emory) Rockafellow and her children, Tricia (Ed) Bicego and family; Alice (Kevin) Brown and family; and Allen (ShyLynn) Rockafellow and family. Surviving, as well, are her Goddaughter, Amy (Brian) Hauser and their children, Megan, Ashley, and Brendan. And last, but certainly not least, she leaves her dearest & most treasured friend, Christine Gorsline. A Memorial Mass for Kathleen will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:30am at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 18720 Thirteen Mile Road in Roseville. Officiating the liturgy will be Father Ron Victor. Interment of her ashes will take place at Clinton Grove Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. There, she will join her beloved, Charlie, the love of her life and husband of 40 years, who preceeded her in death on October 6, 2005. Memorial donations are welcomed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church, or to the Humane Society of Macomb County. Please share memories of Kathleen at her guest book.
