

Born and raised in Detroit on the 4th of July in 1939, Leonard grew up with a mischievous spirit and was often called a “firecracker”, always keeping those around him on their toes. He attended St. Hyacinth Catholic Elementary and graduated from Northeastern High School, where his lively personality made an impression on all who knew him. After high school Leonard proudly served his country as a Marine achieving the rank of Lance Corporal, a commitment that would stay with him throughout his life.
Leonard’s career spanned many years, and he made his mark in several fields. He worked at Chrysler before opening his own business, Len's Towing, which earned the respect and loyalty of countless customers. Later, he became a court clerk for the city of Warren, where dedication to his community was an important part of his life. Leonard also became known for his enthusiasm in supporting local campaigns, often seen putting up signs and canvassing for city officials. He even ran for city council, always striving to make his community a better place.
Leonard was a family man married to his beloved wife, Shirley, for 57 years. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared memories. Leonard was also a proud father leaving a legacy of humor, hard work, and devotion. In his spare time, Leonard could often be found tending to his garden, where he grew an abundance of tomatoes, green peppers, and other plants. He took great pride in sharing his harvest with family and friends, a small gesture that spoke volumes about his generous nature. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing up North, where he had a cherished deer camp that was a true reflection of his love for the outdoors.
Taking pride in his family home, he was often seen mowing the lawn on his riding lawn mower. His hardworking, fun-loving spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Leonard will be remembered for his sense of humor and his strong dedication to family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Leonard was the beloved husband of Shirley Bork. Loving father of Wayne (Anna) Curtis. He is also survived by many loving cousins, friends and extraordinary neighbors. Leonard’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice and the Care Friends at My Doctor’s Inn- Assisted Living that took such wonderful care of Leonard.
A Memorial Visitation for Leonard will be held on Tuesday, March 25th from 10:00am-2:00pm with a Memorial Service at 2:00pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Michigan Humane Society.
