Lt. Colonel (Retired) Rupert C. Lail, Jr. died October 6, 2012 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Rupert was born in Hickory, North Carolina, the son of the late Rupert and Lena Lail.With thanks and praise we credit Colonel Lail for his service to his country during the Vietnam War and beyond.Colonel Lail was the beloved father of Susan Yvonne (Kenneth) McCollum, Natasha 'ShaShi' (Rob) Smith, and Michael Lail. He is the dear Grandfather of Megan Blizzard, Ashley Blizzard, Dallas McCollum, Shane Smith, and Great-grandfather of Caden Mages, Gabrielle Mages, and Damon Rupert Blizzard. Colonel Lail was predeceased by his parents Rupert and Lena Lail, his sister Yvonne Hewitt, his granddaughter Jessica Blizzard, and his niece Susan Parker. Funeral Services for Colonel Lail will be held at Bass-Smith Funeral Home of Hickory, North Carolina.
