Madonna A. Schmidt, age 81 of Troy, died Sunday, March 7, 2010. She was born on February 17, 1929 in Detroit, the daughter of the late William and the late Florence (nee: Terrien) Langlois. A graduate of Pershing High School in Detroit, Madonna went on to put her knowledge and skills to work as a Purchasing Agent with the General Motors Corporation, where she extended over 20 years of dedicated service until her retirement. Being the youngest of seven children, which included six girls and one boy, Madonna grew up appreciating the importance and value of family. That would eventually translate to the family of her own that she nurtured, along with the loving support of her husband and soulmate, William, whom she leaves to cherish her memory. Madonna loved spending time with her family and friends, the most precious of which were the moments shared and the memories made with her seven, adoring grandchildren. She also found great enjoyment and delight in the special bond she shared with her five sisters and the moments they spent together as well. And of all the family times she enjoyed, some of the most fun were the summer family retreats up at Higgins Lake. Madonna also enjoyed some personal passions. In her younger years, she loved spending a sunny day on the golf course, and was quite sporty when it came to bowling. Whatever she was enjoying, it was always about who she was enjoying it with. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched along life's way. Madonna was the beloved wife, for over 46 years, of William. She was the loving mother of Anne (Tim) Pancost, Michael (Sally) Schmidt, and Patrick (Deena) Schmidt. She is also survived by seven, loving grandchildren. Visitation for Madonna will be on Tuesday from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Louise Catholic Church in Warren. Offficiating the Mass will be Msgr. Michael Dylag. Memorial donations are welcomed to Hospice of Southeastern Michigan. Please share memories of Madonna at her guest book.
