

Malcolm Williams Dooley Jr., age 61, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan surrounded by his loving family. Malcolm was born August 11, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Gabrielle (nee: DePirro) Dooley and the late Malcolm W. Dooley.Malcolm was raised in Detroit attending Gesu Catholic Grade School and later graduating from Brother Rice Catholic High School. After his high school education Malcolm enlisted in the United States Army at the conclusion of the Vietnam War era. Following his military service, Malcolm entered the civilian workforce first working at a lumber yard and later finding his niche within the automobile industry.Malcolm worked for almost 30 years with the Ford Motor Company. He began his career in model making, working his way over the years to journeyman model maker and later to automotive designer.Away from work, Malcolm truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life in addition to making people laugh and smile. Malcolm never met a stranger and seemed to make new friends every day. Malcolm's son commented that his father was the funniest guy in the checkout lane at the grocery store. This comment was attested to by one of the attending nurses at the hospital who had met Malcolm while grocery shopping.In his younger years Malcolm was a true devotee of the Grateful Dead, or you could say a "Dead Head". He had a passion for music, people, and charitable causes. Malcolm also enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time within the American Legion Post 32 in Livonia, or just sharing a drink and a joke with a friend.Malcolm was a follower of Christ and devoted to his Catholic faith. In addition to his love of his children, Malcolm always felt that individuals should give back of their time and talents to better the community. He gave of himself to many charitable causes including the American Veterans, Gesu Catholic School, and Focus Hope. He will truly be remembered as a selfless, giving person and the consummate jokester.Malcolm is survived by his loving wife Mickey, his mother Gabrielle (John) Dooley, and his cherished children; Denise Dooley, Claire Dooley, Andrew Dooley, and Bridget Dooley. Further survivors include his siblings; Maureen Dooley Miller (husband Paul), Michael A. Dooley Sr, (wife Denise) Thomas A. Dooley Sr, (wife Katie), Mary Gay Dooley Morden, (husband William), Teresa A. Dooley, and Stephen S. Dooley, (wife Patricia). He was also the dear Uncle of Elayna Dooley, Michael Dooley Jr, Thomas A. Dooley Jr., William Morden, Marie Morden Connelly, Matthew Morden, Austin Smith, Courtney Morelock, and Preston Dooley.Malcolm will lie in state Saturday January 6, 2018, 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22430 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48124. Malcolm's Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11am officiated by Reverend Fr. Ken Chase. Following the Funeral Liturgy will be a Celebration of Life Service and Luncheon at American Legion Post #32 located at 9318 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, MI 48150.
