Marc Twain Grieshaber, age 73, died Friday, January 3, 2020 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. He was born in Detroit on October 17, 1946 to the late Marvin Grieshaber and the late Margaret (nee: Lynch) Grieshaber.
What began with Marc receiving his high school diploma would ultimately parlay itself into a bit of furthered education and the pride he felt in obtaining his coveted Bachelor’s Degree. With that degree in hand and a desire to make his mark upon the work world, Marc eventually secured a position with the Budd Wheel Company in Detroit where he served as a Systems Engineer for many years. Extending several years of loyal and dedicated employment to the company, Marc made a unique and genuine impact at Budd, and a number of wonderful friends in the process.
When not at work you’d often find Marc immersed in one of his favorite pastimes,…keepin’ up on all things sports related. Possessing a love for all respective sports, Marc was one of those guys who was able to retain a plethora of information and stats that often came in quite handy when engaged in sporting conversations. He was like the Howard Cosell of the family. If you needed any kind of sporting answers, there was always Google,…but many chose to simply turn to Marc. And even though he wasn’t necessarily particular regarding the venue, there was no mistaking the passion he held for the University of Michigan. Go Blue! Perhaps it was generated by the care for his nephews who attended the iconic institution,…or perhaps, simply, because of the schools rich history. Whatever the case, there was no better banner waver for all things U of M than Marc.
During the latter half of his life, Marc was blessed to enjoy two different climates throughout the year. When summer arrived and Michigan was in full bloom, Marc found great joy in loadin’ up the car and heading north to soak up some of the beauty and splendor that the “Mitten State” had to offer. With the temps being more congenial and conducive for outdoor activities, that’s when he loved being a “Michigander.” But when the temps headed south,…so did Marc! That’s right,…when winter came calling, Marc took his cue from the birds heading south and made his way to the warmth and comfort of Marco Island in sunny Florida. There was no better place to be during winter than on the gulf coast of Florida,…lathered with a coat of sunscreen enjoyin’ the rays!
When it came time for counting his blessings, Marc’s list was always topped by those loved ones, his family & friends, who brought his heart and life immense joy. But of all in whom he coveted the most, the love and care he held for his beloved wife, Judy was beyond measure or expression. Their love of many years had grown to the point that the two truly were one. They shared so much together and were a shining example of how a loving marriage should work. When Judy went before him, Marc was devastated. But just imagine how happy he is now!? Many speculate on just what Heaven will be like. But for today we’ll gladly draw upon the vision of two sweethearts, reunited again, walking hand-in-hand along the beach,…like the song says, “in a land where we’ll never grow old.”
He was the beloved husband the late Judith “Judy” (nee: Childs). Dear brother of Peggy Kelty, Mary Claire Smith, Madonna Gray, Lou Grieshaber, the late Marvin Grieshaber, the late Mike Grieshaber, and the late Madelyn Harris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Marc will be held on Tuesday, January 7th from 5 pm-9 pm, with a 7 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.
